2021 is the year of theatre for kids!

From a year of screens, distance learning, and cancelled extra-curricular activities, kids have sadly been missing out on the magic of live performance. The good news is that live theatre is back, and The Art House Wyong has brought together the best in kids theatre for 2021! 

Live performance can be a magical and memorable experience for children, exposing them to a whole new world of imagination and storytelling, as well as helping to create empathy and an understanding of another person’s perspective. 

From bestselling books brought to life on stage all the way to a hilarious and engaging rendition of Shakespeare, The Art House has a show for all ages and their families.

The Midnight Gang 
Wed 14th April (School Holidays) Perfect for kids aged 6+
Based on the bestselling novel by David Walliams. 

Twelve-year-old Tom unexpectedly finds himself lost and lonely in the children’s hospital ward, but his fellow young patients show him that their imaginations can take them anywhere – as The Midnight Gang. Each night when the clock strikes midnight, The Midnight Gang go on a series of amazing journeys as they turn the hospital into the places they’ve always wanted to go and make dreams come true.

Magic Beach 
Mon 10th May–Wed 12th May Perfect for kids aged 3-8 years
Based on the book by Alison Lester.

This classic book comes to life on stage in a wonderful world of song, light, shadow, and movement. Every year, an everyday family go on holiday to Magic Beach, where everything you can imagine becomes real. But this year is different. As the eldest child begins to grow up, does she have to leave the magic behind?

Hamlet: Prince of Skidmark 
Fri 25th June–Sat 26th June  
Perfect for kids aged 5+

A very cheeky, very clever rendition of Hamlet – made especially for children. The Listies, maestros of children’s entertainment, have pulled apart Shakespeare’s classic and glued it back together with hilarious costumes, loads of silliness and plenty of interactivity.

The Owl & The Pussycat  Thu 8th July – Fri 9th July 
Perfect for kids aged 4+

This enchanting and intimate theatrical experience for families is based on Edward Lear’s beloved childhood poem. Be swept away in this all-new opera, featuring stunning vocals, interactive theatre, puppetry, and a troupe of musical Puffins. The audience participate in musical and multi-sensory ways to help our lovable couple reach their destination aboard their giant magical pea green boat.
