After being helped by counsellors to navigate her own difficult teenage years, Alex has gone on to forge a successful career in mental health, helping teenagers and young adults. Lorraine and Rhonda have been at the helm of CCKIN helping children and their families on the Central Coast for over 19 and 21 years respectively and have helped over 3900 children and their families. It is no wonder so many individuals and organisations across the Coast support CCKIN and I was honoured to get the opportunity to sit down and chat with them.

Tanya is on a mission to help women and couples going through fertility treatments, though has had quite the journey to get there. From being told by medical professionals at the age of 16 that she’ll likely never have children, to having children in her 20s, only then to find herself undergoing fertility treatments later in life. This journey has fuelled her purpose to create the fertility wellness brand Ivy Dayz, to help others undergoing fertility treatments.

Welcome to Coffee with a Coastie. I sat down with Elizabeth Long, who at 82 is still creating textile art. Recently Elizabeth has been making beautiful items from her left-over fabrics. Making everything from masks, to quilts and tea cosies. Over the years Elizabeth has won prizes in The Quilter’s Guild of NSW for her textile art pieces, though now Elizabeth simply wants to inspire others to pick up whatever it is that interests them later in life and start doing it. So it was with great pleasure that I got to sit down and chat with Elizabeth to share her story.

Toni has travelled the world as a professional entertainer, though chose to call Australia home in 1972. With a career spanning decades, the list of talented individuals that Toni has worked with are endless. She was the first to introduce Theatre Restaurant into registered clubs back in the early 80’s and her heart for giving back is evident in the work she does with the many charitable organizations and in the establishment of The Australian Ladies Variety Association. Being described as a ‘One woman party’ and ‘a truly great entertainer’, who shows no signs of slowing down, it was with great pleasure that we got to sit down with Toni.

#010 David Kirkpatrick – Country Music Singer Songwriter and band member of Two Tone Pony

Welcome to Coffee with a Coastie. We were grateful to have been given the opportunity to chat with David Kirkpatrick. David is an Australian country music artist, born in Rockhampton, Queensland, and the son of Australian country music royalty Joy McKean and the late Slim Dusty. As a child, David spent his first six years on the road, living in a caravan with his family, before going to boarding school and onto a successful career as an emergency medicine doctor, but he has always followed in his family's footsteps with his love of music. Having been part of a band throughout his medical career and made appearances, with his fine song writing and singing featured on the Slim Dusty Family Reunion album. Now after retiring from medicine in 2019 after nearly 30 years of service at Gosford Private Hospital, David formed the band Two Tone Pony, with their latest single ‘A Life Well Lived’. So it was with great pleasure that I got to sit down and chat with David about life and Two Tone Pony.

Then over the last 5 years has reinvented herself, releasing a book in 2022 along with others titled 'Elevate Your Performance'. It is a true blessing that we still have Kerry here to talk to, as she mentions on her own website that a miracle of sliding door moments or universal intervention stopped her from taking her own life twice. Kerry now says she is extremely grateful for everything that she has experienced, as it fuels her passion and purpose to serve and help others through the same dark emotions. So it was with absolute gratitude that I got to sit down and chat with Kerry.

In 2021 he released the first book in his series titled Little Dino Dudes which are devoted to teaching children social values, along with a music single in aid of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.
