Survey results published today show the vast majority of patients who attend Central Coast hospitals are very positive about the care they receive, with 93 per cent of patients at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals describing their care as very good or good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bureau for Health Information (BHI) Adult Admitted Patient Survey measured the overall experience of more than 1,100 admitted patients on the Central Coast from January to December 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patients were asked about all aspects of their hospital stay including their interactions with hospital staff, their involvement in decision-making and the hospital environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than nine in ten patients said they were always treated with respect and dignity and 87 per cent of patients said that the health professionals in Central Coast hospitals were always kind and caring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
85 per cent rated nursing staff as very good, which was significantly higher than the average across public hospitals in NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patients also rated the cleanliness of Central Coast hospitals significantly higher than the NSW average with 88 per cent of respondents responding \u2018yes, definitely\u2019 when asked if the areas of the hospital they used were clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Local Health District Acting Chief Executive Jude Constable said that these positive survey results reflect the ongoing commitment staff show to patient-centred care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m delighted that patients have rated the care we provide so highly and that they feel our staff treat them with compassion, respect and kindness,\u201d Ms Constable said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPatients reported more effective communication with our staff, care that is better organised, more involvement in decision-making and ultimately more trust and confidence in our health professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFrom creating a safe comfortable environment to providing high-quality care, I see the efforts our staff put in every single day, and I commend them for their hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is pleasing that these results show uplifts across a range of measures when compared with our 2024 survey results, but we know there is always room for improvement, which we will strive for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast resident Tim Tyrrell was a patient at Gosford Hospital for ten days in December 2025 when he was admitted with severe abdominal pain. Mr Tyrrell said the medical and nursing care he received was exceptional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was in total agony when I arrived at the emergency department,\u201d Mr Tyrell said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFortunately, when I walked through the door, I was triaged almost immediately. I went from never being in a hospital overnight to ten days on a drip! And from the first moment, I met the most extraordinary human beings you could possibly imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFrom the emergency clinicians and doctors to the nurses on the ward, the surgical staff and the cleaners, they were all amazing – incredibly well-trained, professional and all working together to give exceptional care to me and their other patients.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
