On Monday 13 December, Central Coast golfers will tee up for Cancer Council\u2019s The Longest Day, an all-day 72-hole golf marathon that raises funds for people affected by cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local golfer Rod Dickinson said he signed up for The Longest Day for the challenge, to try to make a meaningful contribution whilst challenging himself both mentally and physically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rod Dickinson has seen firsthand the fantastic work that Cancer Council do in the community, much of which is not understood by the general public. Like almost all families they have been impacted by cancer and he thought it would be a great way to raise both funds and awareness with some close mates over 12-13 hours of golf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a great day and we\u2019re hoping to beat last year\u2019s efforts by raising over $6,000 for Cancer Council,\u201d said Rod.
All funds raised will go towards Cancer Council\u2019s life-saving cancer research, support services, prevention programs and advocacy campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jaynie Moloney, Community Relations Coordinator from Cancer Council\u2019s Central Coast community thanked Rod for getting involved in The Longest Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe rely on the generosity of the Central Coast community to work towards our vision of a cancer free future. It is the support of people like Rod that allows us to continue our work,\u201d said Jaynie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really looking forward to seeing how our region will perform in The Longest Day challenge. We also encourage the team and all golfers to keep sun-safe and slip, slop, slap, seek and slide, not only on The Longest Day, but each and every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
