Registrations are now open for the Central Coast Series Skate and Scooter Competition, which returns this year with a total prize pool of over $3,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council will host the event in one action-packed day at Bato Yard this year, rather than several days of competition. Young riders can enter in skate and scooter categories for the chance of being crowned the 2022 Central Coast Series Champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather than competing in a final, this year\u2019s winner and runner up will be decided based on a cumulative tally, determined by the level of skill and difficulty of each trick performed. Riders aged 25 years and over will also be able to compete for the first time in the competition by entering the new Masters Best Trick Division. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Unit Manager Leisure Beach Safety and Community Facilities, Phil Cantillon said the popular competition provides young riders a platform to showcase their skills and expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Series was unfortunately unable to go ahead last year due to the ongoing pandemic, however we\u2019re excited to see its return in 2022, with the format changing slightly to skate and scooter categories across one day of competition,\u201d Mr Cantillon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe event will also provide young people across the region the chance to get involved beyond competing through inclusion in event management, judging, emceeing and musical performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis making it only fitting that we see the competition coincide once again with Youth Week, an important celebration of our young people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition is aimed at beginner, intermediate and sponsored riders and provides a great platform for young riders of all skill levels to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2022 Central Coast Series Skate and Scooter Competition will be held at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entry for spectators on the day is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Competition entry is open to the first 100 riders to register aged 5 to 24 years to compete in disciplines including skate street, skate park and scooter. The age divisions include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Administrator, Rik Hart said competitions such as the Central Coast Series are great in engaging local young people in recreational and social activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe undoubtedly have a strong skating community on the Central Coast and it\u2019s important that we continue to offer platforms to recognise the talent of local young people,\u201d Mr Hart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Central Coast Series and Youth Week play an important role in helping to ensure that people of all ages feel welcome to participate in community life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI encourage young skaters and scooter riders to register for this year\u2019s competition and that their families, friends and the community to head down to support all competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council has put in place COVID-19 safety measures to ensure the safety of staff and attendees on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no fee upon registration to compete, with entries open to riders until 5pm on Friday 8 April 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
