Council has commenced construction to transform the Visitor Information Centre at The Entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exciting multipurpose facility will deliver the community an interactive visitor centre, new and modern amenities including 24\/7 adult accessible change facility (AACF) and event toilets, improved layout and decking, a dedicated space for local makers and creators, a bookable function area and a purpose-built greenroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council Director Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer, Natalia Cowley said the upgrade has been designed to provide an interactive facility and accessible amenities for locals and visitors to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Entrance is one of the Coast\u2019s most popular tourist destinations and this project creates an interactive space to better educate and inform visitors about all there is to do and see throughout the region,\u201d Ms Cowley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis upgrade will improve toilets and accessibility, while also helping to drive tourism, increase economic spend in the area, and create an exciting year-round space for locals to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council Administrator, Rik Hart said this stage was an exciting milestone for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis interactive experience can showcase all that our region has to offer as a tourism destination and provide positive exposure for our local businesses and tourism providers,\u201d Mr Hart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt also provides the opportunity to attract larger-scale events and improved function areas for the community to enjoy, as well as including facilities for all with a 24\/7 adult accessible change facility. I look forward to seeing the many positive impacts this updated facility brings to the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction of the Visitor Information Centre is expected to be complete in October 2022, weather permitting. Throughout construction the temporary Visitor Information Centre currently set up in Memorial Park, The Entrance will remain open to the public, seven days per week. Temporary toilets are available on Marine Parade, The Entrance throughout the construction. However, the Council Customer Service point at this location will continue to be closed temporarily, as resources are relocated to our high-traffic customer service points. This is due to a significant increase in customer service phone call volumes, exceeding 30,000 calls per month. The Council Customer Service point at The Entrance is expected to reopen in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fencing is in place around the perimeter of the construction area until works are complete. There will also be temporary loss of some parking spaces and increased vehicle traffic noise at various stages during the construction, however it is Council\u2019s priority to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and visitors as much as possible throughout the course of the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
