Cancer Council and it\u2019s research partners invested more than $290 million in world class cancer research from 2016 to 2020, making the organisation the largest independent funder of cancer research in the country. Cancer Council NSW has invested more than $86 million to world class cancer research from 2016 to 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to investment in cancer research, amazing advances have been made in cancer prevention, screening, early detection and treatment \u2013 helping to increase survival rates from 51 per cent in the late 1980\u2019s to around 70 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, Sarah Russell, Community Lead from Cancer Council NSW Hunter Central Coast, urged the community to give this Daffodil Day Appeal to fund the country\u2019s best and brightest cancer researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe daffodil is the international symbol of hope for everyone impacted by cancer,\u201d Ms Russell said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCancer takes so much from all of us, which is why this year, we\u2019re calling on Australians to give hope to those impacted by cancer by funding vital cancer research that is saving lives every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery person who donates, holds a fundraiser or buys daffodils this August will be helping us to continue investing in life-saving cancer research programs, giving hope for better treatments and early detection and ultimately, giving us hope for a cancer free future.\u201d Sarah concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year you can support Cancer Council\u2019s Daffodil Day Appeal in the following ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.daffodilday.com.au\/donate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donate <\/a>via the Daffodil Day Appeal website and give to cancer research.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.daffodilday.com.au\/fundraise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fundraise <\/a>and empower your community to raise vital funds that will make a real difference.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.daffodilday.com.au\/find-a-stall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grab your fresh daffodils<\/a> from a local Daffodil Day activation near you on Daffodil Day, Thursday 25 August.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information about the Daffodil Day Appeal and how to get involved visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daffodilday.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">daffodilday.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Cancer Council\u2019s Daffodil Day Appeal: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Daffodil Day Appeal is Cancer Council\u2019s most iconic and much-loved fundraising campaign, raising vital funds for cancer research.
