The Central Coast will again be buzzing this summer, with high numbers of both locals and visitors enjoying the beaches, waterways and outdoors spaces, not to mention the fabulous array of restaurants, summer entertainment and facilities across the Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While this is the time for many to kick back and relax to enjoy time with family and friends \u2013 it is also the time to remember some key safety messages, ensuring you, your loved ones and the wider community remain safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said Coast Summer Safety is all about helping our community understand some key risks and providing\u202fsimple steps to help keep everyone safe when out and about.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncil\u2019s \u2018Coast Summer Safety\u2019 campaign will primarily be delivered via a targeted digital campaign in December, January and February and highlights messaging that\u2019s relevant to this year\u2019s season. These include being informed on the current situation and advice from NSW Health regarding COVID*, being prepared for emergency and severe weather events, staying safe in around water, and other important safety reminders for when \u2018out and about\u2019, travelling and celebrating,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTime in and around water is a big part of summer on the Coast, but wherever there is water there is danger. This campaign emphasises what we can do to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe know that severe weather and other emergency events will continue to be a part of our lives on the Central Coast, and we need to remain vigilant and be ready for bush fires, floods, or storms. Whether you\u2019re new to the Coast or have lived here for decades, now is the time to understand your risks and prepare a current plan to help protect yourself, your family and your property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur roads will also be very busy and many of us will be travelling for holidays and to visit family and friends \u2013 this campaign reminds us what we can do to be safer on and around the roads.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Administrator, Rik Hart said safety needs to be front of mind this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe all want to see a busy and enjoyable summer season on the Central Coast. \u00a0Equally we all want to ensure that it is a safe period,\u201d Mr Hart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI encourage everyone to take the time to slow down, enjoy what you are doing and be patient and kind to others in what can be a hectic period. Slow down on the roads, be safe around the water and be prepared for emergency events so we all have great memories for the right reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
