Christmas without someone you love can be a very lonesome time. There may be expectations that you continue with traditions, as others want to see you \u201cdoing well\u201d. You may be inclined to \u2018pretend\u2019 that you are looking forward to Christmas when in truth you wish things were the way they were before. When you\u2019re grieving, everyone handles their emotions and reactions differently, which at special times of the year, events, and anniversaries this can be harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Be gentle, generous, and patient with yourself, plan ahead \u2013 tell friends what your plans are, whether you wish to participate or not. Look after yourself \u2013 take time to grieve and permission to be sad, cry or not. Talk to other people \u2013 friends may offer for you to be with them for events, express what you need. Get support through friends, counselling, reach out and ask for help if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Remember your loved one in a special way. Light a candle for them, place an ornament on the tree to symbolise them, visit the memorial site or somewhere that is important to your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
