The Art House will be the first stop on Sydney Dancy Company\u2019s national tour of Ascent<\/em> which opened with three weeks at The Sydney Opera House in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ascent<\/em> treats audiences with two world premieres – I Am-ness<\/em> by SDC Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela and The Shell, A Ghost, The Host & The Lyrebird<\/em> by renowned international choreographer Marina Mascarell which uses a complex pulley system of silk sails combined with the dancers\u2019 movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The triple-bill concludes with the explosive re-mount of Antony Hamilton’s Helpmann Award-winning Forever & Ever. <\/em>Set to an urban soundtrack composed by Hamilton\u2019s brother Julian of The Presets<\/em>, this work is a grungy, pop-culture-esque feast for the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening night saw high profile dancers, international choreographers, and public figures gather in the Sydney Opera House to celebrate the powerful trio of intricate and visually arresting dances. The Art House is thrilled to host the company and creatives to kick off their tour which will also visit Victoria, South Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together the three pieces combine contemporary classical choreography with futuristic experimentation, brought to life by Sydney Dance Company\u2019s superb ensemble. Yet this is not just a dance performance but a play of but inventive installations, musical scores, costume changes, and lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sydney Dance Company are the latest internationally renowned company to include a stop on the Central Coast, relieving locals of the need to travel and giving a welcome opportunity to support the surrounding local businesses of Wyong. The Art House stage has also hosted the likes of Opera Australia, Bangarra Dance Theatre and Bell Shakespeare with their major city shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
