{"id":4357,"date":"2023-04-19T18:41:49","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T08:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onthecoastpublications.com.au\/onthecoastfamilies\/?p=4357"},"modified":"2023-04-19T18:41:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T08:41:51","slug":"after-school-program-promotes-physical-and-mental-well-being-for-children-free-of-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onthecoastpublications.com.au\/onthecoastfamilies\/after-school-program-promotes-physical-and-mental-well-being-for-children-free-of-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"After-school program promotes physical and mental well-being for children, free of charge."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A free after-school program to help children get active and eat healthier will return at three locations across the Central Coast next term.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go4Fun will run for 10 weeks at Lake Haven Recreation Centre every Thursday evening from 27 April, and at Kincumber Indoor Sports Centre every Tuesday evening from 2 May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A culturally adapted version of the program run by Bungree Aboriginal Association and available for all families will take place at Gosford Olympic Swimming Pool every Wednesday evening from 26 April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go4Fun is a free healthy wellbeing program for children aged 7 to 13, along with their families. Run by trained health and community professionals, the program is a fun way for children to build self-esteem and learn about eating well, staying active and living a healthy life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kids take part in group activities and games, receive rewards and prizes, while parents benefit from professional tailored advice to help make positive health changes for the whole family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go4Fun is a NSW Health state-wide initiative offered on the Central Coast by the Local Health District\u2019s Health Promotion Service. Health Promotion Officer, Joel Bunn, said the program provides a positive environment for children and families.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGo4Fun provides a great environment for kids to be active, reduce screen time and learn to feel good with nutrition,\u201d Joel said. \u201cIt\u2019s also an opportunity for parents or carers to enjoy quality time with children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see the confidence grow week by week in children who take part as they get involved in the activities and make new friends.
