The Art House Wyong is devoted to telling stories of importance and inciting conversations. The latest production to be added to The Art House Presents program is The Hen House<\/em> by PYT Fairfield and In Wild Company. It is a fierce and funny migrant story set in Western Sydney that pays homage to the stories of European migration in the 60s and 70s and explores the dignity and comedy of the female working-class experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This musical comedy is based on very real experiences bringing to light an extraordinary, humorous, and tragic multi-lingual story with distinctly live and loud original music played by an electrifying all-female rock band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created and performed by sisters Josipa Draisma (Founder\/Creative Director, In Wild Company) and Mara Knezevic (Playlist, PYT Fairfield), The Hen House<\/em> is set in 1976. Sherbet\u2019s \u201cHowzat\u201d is No.1 on the charts and industries are booming, with migrant women cashing in. The show tells the stories of best friends Pavica and Mila. These two working-class females are living their new Australian lives working a production line at a chicken factory. Divided by their feelings of their factory employment, they will soon realise that they ultimately need each other to survive their strange feathery world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PYT Fairfield has made a reputation as a brave and transformative theatre company who make urgent work that explores the critical issues of our time, their vision asserts and celebrates Australia as a culturally diverse nation. PYT is the only professional theatre company in Western Sydney focused on the development and engagement of local young and engaging artists as core practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Art House presents program brings to the Central Coast productions that may not normally perform in regional areas. These shows are deemed of particular importance, calibre, and excitement. The Hen House<\/em> is the latest musical to be presented by The Art House following hits such as HAIR<\/em>, RENT <\/em>and GODSPELL<\/em>.
