Swimmers will be welcomed back in the water at Wyong Olympic Pool from today, 3 October for the opening of the new season.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Community members will be greeted with refreshed and upgraded facilities including maintenance of the pool which took place during the winter closure period.\u00a0The grandstand has been upgraded with construction of a new shelter for spectators worth over $100,000, which has been funded by Council\u2019s capital works program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Council Unit Manager Leisure Beach Safety and Community Facilities Phil Cantillon said the grandstand upgrade was a welcome addition to this popular community facility providing shelter for spectators to cheer on competitors during the busy swimming carnival season, which includes water polo, swim squads and recreational swimming users. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCentral Coast Council is committed to maintaining and investing in its pools and leisure facilities to ensure the one million visits from community members, schools and clubs who enjoy these facilities each year continue to enjoy quality sporting, leisure, recreation and aquatic opportunities for an active and connected life on the Coast,\u201d Mr Cantillon said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAdditional upgrades at Council facilities, have included over the last two years, $300,000 spent on new gym equipment upgrades at Lake Haven Recreation Centre, a new 50 metre pool filtering system at Gosford Olympic Pool, changing room improvements at Toukley Aquatic Centre, improved heat and ventilation and automatic timing system at Peninsula Leisure Centre.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Administrator, Rik Hart said Council\u2019s goal is to continually improve the physical and social wellbeing of the Central Coast community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAn example of this has been the $1 million invested across our six leisure centres during 2022\/23 to provide residents and visitors of the Coast with improved facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The swimming season at Wyong Olympic Pool will run from Tuesday 3 October until 31 March 2024, with pools at Peninsula Leisure Centre, Lake Haven Recreation Centre, Toukley Aquatic Centre, and Gosford Olympic Pools remaining open all year around patrolled by lifeguards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
