Central Coast Council is excited to announce the return of Battle of the Bands, offering young musicians the chance to compete for stardom and prizes. This iconic event, previously held from 2004 to 2019, is making an electrifying comeback, to bring together the region\u2019s best young bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously, band members aged 12 to 24, competed in the same event, however this year, we\u2019re introducing the \u2018Kids Clash Division\u2019 for bands with members aged 10-13, giving even younger musicians a chance to showcase their talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the support of Damien Gerard Sound Studios, Musicians Making a Difference, Central Coast Music and Arts and The Skills Engineer, the competition includes three heats, two semi-finals, and a grand-final, culminating in the Creative Engineers Showcase event where winners will be announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Council Director of Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith, said Battle of the Bands has always been about more than just music,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are thrilled to reintroduce Battle of the Bands, a platform that brings our community together where every young musician, regardless of age or background, is welcome to showcase their talent and participate in our vibrant community life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also offering support for schools with the Play it Forward School Prize<\/strong>, which will benefit the winning band’s nominated school, supporting students in the Music\/CAPA Faculty,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Young songwriters who want to hone in their skills are invited to join Council\u2019s Songwriters development workshop to gain feedback on their original songs from industry experts. \u00a0This workshop will be held on 10 July at 12pm at Damien Gerard Studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, all entrants have access to professional development workshops and industry talks throughout the competition program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBattle of the Bands has been a launchpad for successful bands like Short Stack, Elaskia, and The Moving Stills, providing young musicians with access to development programs and industry experts. This competition not only connects young people but also supports their growth, cultivates a love of music, and we can\u2019t wait to see young talent shine this year.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Council Administrator Rik Hart said Battle of the Bands not only celebrates our local talent but also contributes to the development of the region by creating opportunities for local businesses and young people within our creative industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “We are proud to invest in the future of our young artists by broadening their educational pathways.
