It\u2019s been a huge year of live music at The Art House Wyong but it\u2019s not over yet, with the venue announcing Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Rogue Traders as their next big-name act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pop rock band dominated the Australian charts in the 2000s with smash-hits like \u2018Voodoo Child\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Don\u2019t You Wanna Feel\u2019<\/em> and will make their Art House debut this October. Reuniting after years apart to pursue solo projects Nat Bass, James Ash, Tim Henwood and Cameron McGlinchey will be performing all the hits from their x4 certified platinum album \u2018Here Come the Drums\u2019 <\/em>and maybe even a surprise or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The latest in a string of internationally acclaimed acts to stop in at Wyong, it\u2019s a huge win for the people of the Central Coast and a testament to the dedication of The Art House team to delivering excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n David Campbell, Kate Miller-Heidke, Macy Gray, Eskimo Joe, Jimmy Barnes (sold out so fast he added a second show) and Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows – The Art House has been pulling top notch talent from around the country and beyond. With this latest announcement further proof of the venue\u2019s ability to put on a killer show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Already nailing the more traditional theatre offering you\u2019d expect of a state-of-the-art performing arts centre (including the recent transfer of Hayes Theatre\u2019s Ride The Cyclone<\/em>, the only other venue in the country to score the Australian debut of this international cult hit musical), The Art House Executive Director Anne-Marie Heath said the decision to bring on more contemporary music acts was reflective of what audiences are asking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLive music has consistently been at the top of our audience\u2019s wish list and our team is constantly getting feedback on what acts people want to see on our stage, so we\u2019ve consciously been trying to deliver on that.\u201d Heath said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Traditionally overlooked as an event destination in favour of more metropolitan Newcastle, Heath and her team have managed to flip the script, leveraging The Art House\u2019s intimate almost boutique feeling theatre to coax bigger names to the Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFrom a patron perspective, obviously if you live on the Coast and can go see a show at your local theatre as opposed to travelling to Sydney or Newcastle, that\u2019s a win. And from an Artist\u2019s perspective, there\u2019s real appeal in performing to a more intimate house. Particularly, when they\u2019re touring through all these large-scale venues that are selling thousands of tickets. We become a real change of pace. Performances here feel more personal. It\u2019s quite special for performer and punter alike.
