Australian country songbird, Courtney Keil<\/strong>, is thrilled to announce the release of her latest single, \u2018Just Like Flying\u2019<\/strong>. The deeply personal track pays tribute to Courtney\u2019s<\/strong> late grandfather, Glen Keil<\/strong>, and his remarkable achievement in the Barossa Valley’s 1951 Jubilee year Vintage Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Just Like Flying\u2019<\/strong> captures the essence of true Australian spirit and history, inspired by a memorable foot race won by Courtney\u2019s<\/strong> grandfather. Picture the Barossa Valley in 1951 \u2013 the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the Federation of Australia, a Jubilee year. \u201cThe Tanunda Showgrounds oval held \u2018Jubilee\u2019 track and field events, attracting athletes from all around the country,\u201d <\/em>shared Courtney\u2019s<\/strong> grandfather, days before his passing in 2020.<\/em> \u201cI was 20 years old and not a professional runner, but because I was quick on the footy field, my teammates coaxed me to enter the race.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young underdog etched his name in history that day, taking home the trophy. However, it wasn\u2019t Courtney<\/strong> who first envisaged the story in song.  \u201cMy dad originally came up with the idea of the song,\u201d <\/em>she admits. Naturally they wrote it together, alongside long-time collaborator and producer, Rod McCormack<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The track was crafted over two days at The Music Cellar<\/strong>, with meticulous attention to detail and a nod to the traditional sounds of country music. “I loved once again working with Rod. He worked his magic incorporating all my favourite classic country sounds that I love so much!”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following her successful duet with Gina Jeffreys<\/strong> – which reached #5<\/strong> on the Country Songs Top 40 Australian Airplay Chart<\/strong> and was featured on Apple Music\u2019s<\/strong> \u2018Aussie Country\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018Country Risers\u2019<\/strong> playlists – Courtney<\/strong> continues to captivate audiences with her unique blend of storytelling and musicality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The silk-toned singer has won back-to-back awards for \u2018Best Female Vocal\u2019<\/strong> at the 2023 & 2024 Australian Country Music People\u2019s Choice Awards<\/strong>, highlighting her growing influence in the country music scene.
