Central Coast Council is pleased to announce a $1.65 million grant from the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, to support the redevelopment of the \u2018tidal terrace\u2019 area in Leagues Club Park. 

This funding, together with a $165,000 contribution from Council, will enable significant upgrades to the park, ensuring it remains a vibrant and inclusive space for local families and visitors. 

The entire Leagues Club Park precinct development was originally funded by NSW State Government.  Since opening it has been a popular destination. However, concerns about water quality in the original tidal terrace design have limited its use and led to the need to replace it. 

Central Coast Council Administrator, Rik Hart said Council is keen to ensure Leagues Club Park will be a place where everyone feels welcome and can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. 

\u201cThis grant allows us to further reimagine this section of the park, incorporating the community\u2019s ideas and ensuring it meets the needs of all visitors.

\u201cBased on community feedback, a range of improvements have already been made to Leagues Club Park which include more inclusive play equipment, more shade sails and the addition of a concrete path for greater accessibility,\u201d Mr Hart said.

Council Director of Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith emphasised the importance of community input in shaping the park\u2019s future. 

\u201cWe\u2019ve had fantastic results with the current adventure playground, including the popular rocket slide, and we\u2019re excited to build on this success. 

\u201cThe community\u2019s feedback has been invaluable, guiding us towards creating a destination play space that\u2019s truly inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.\u201d

Council is also consulting with the local Aboriginal community to ensure the park\u2019s transformation honours the area\u2019s cultural significance.

\u201cThis project is a collaborative effort, and we\u2019re working closely with the Darkinjung Aboriginal Land Council to create a space that reflects our region\u2019s rich heritage and supports the broader transformation of the Gosford waterfront.\u201d

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP said the Leagues Club Park is a fantastic destination for Central Coast families, and visitors.

\u201cThe Leagues Club Park is a phenomenal recreation space, close by Gosford waterfront and the CBD.

\u201cThe Federal Government is working with Central Coast Council to ensure the park remains safe and accessible for everyone in our community.\u201d

Mr Hart added the new funding is testament to the importance of listening to residents\u2019 needs and desires.

\u201cWith this grant and ongoing community collaboration, we\u2019re confident that the park will continue to be a cherished space for many years to come. Council invites everyone to participate in the upcoming consultation process.\u201d
