Central Coast Council is excited to announce its line-up of events for NSW Youth Week, running from 9 to 17 April. This week-long celebration offers young people across the region opportunities to connect, develop new skills, showcase their talents, find inspiration and most importantly, have fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year’s theme, \u2018We are the future, and the future is now!\u2019 also includes a statement, \u2018I am______________,\u2019 where young people are encouraged to identify both their individual strengths and collective power as current and future influencers, leaders and decision makers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said Council worked closely with local young people and youth service providers to create an exciting calendar of free events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYouth Week is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the diverse interests and talents of young people in our region,\u201d Ms Smith said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReflecting this year\u2019s theme of individual strength and future potential, we\u2019ve curated a program that encourages young people to explore their \u2018I am\u2019 through a variety of engaging activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFrom high-energy skateboard and scooter competitions to creative crochet workshops, immersive Dungeons & Dragons sessions and relaxing outdoor movie nights, there\u2019s something for everyone aged 12 to 24. We\u2019re also hosting a vibrant youth festival, Youth Day Out, offering live music and free activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said Youth Week provides an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the contributions of young people to the Central Coast community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYouth Week is a chance for us to come together and appreciate the unique perspectives and talents of our youth,\u201d Mayor McKinna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe also take this opportunity to shine a light on their outstanding achievements through the annual Youth Week Awards. On 10 April, we will present awards across eight categories, recognising the remarkable contributions and talents of our young residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI encourage all young people to participate in the many events planned, to connect with each other, and to fully embrace this week dedicated to celebrating their strengths and achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
