Following a successful launch in Term 1, Central Coast Council is bringing back its popular Mumma Ball program for Term 2 2025, offering mothers a unique chance to combine fitness, fun and community. This free basketball program will be held at two convenient locations, Niagara Park Stadium and Lake Haven Recreation Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said the Mumma Ball program provides a supportive pathway for mothers to return to sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMumma Ball creates a truly welcoming space for mums to rediscover their passion for sport, focusing on building both skills and confidence in a relaxed and judgement-free environment,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cParticipants will not only refine their basketball skills through engaging drills and friendly games, but also carve out valuable \u2018me time\u2019 to prioritise their wellbeing.
\u201cHaving seen the positive impact of this program in Term 1, we\u2019re excited to offer it again in Term 2, with the aim of empowering even more mums to potentially join local teams and foster a lasting connection with physical activity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mumma Ball program will be held at two locations during Term 2:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spaces are limited to 20 participants per venue. The Term 2 program is open to new participants who have not previously joined Girls in the Game basketball programs. Participants will also receive a complimentary basketball and t-shirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mumma Ball is one of five initiatives within Council\u2019s Girls in the Game program, funded by the Australian Government\u2019s Play Our Way program. Other initiatives include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This program is dedicated to boosting participation and retention of women and girls in sports and physical activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said the Girls in the Game program contributes to the community\u2019s wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGirls in the Game empowers women and girls through sports, contributing to a stronger, healthier and more connected community,\u201d Mayor McKinna said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
