Central Coast Council is inviting local artists, art groups and art organisations to apply for commissioning opportunities through Creative Art Central \u2013 a signature program that celebrates and invests in the region\u2019s creative industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program supports creative practitioners across a range of disciplines, including visual arts, craft, performance and literary, with opportunities open to emerging and established artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said the program strengthens local connections and builds opportunities for creatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCreative Art Central is about celebrating our people, their stories and their talents,\u201d Mayor McKinna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBy supporting projects that are both original and community focused, we\u2019re helping to showcase the unique character of the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis program reflects Council\u2019s vision to connect people, foster creativity and ensure everyone has the chance to be part of our cultural life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said the program is designed to be inclusive and community led.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince 2021, Creative Art Central has awarded 23 commissions, reflecting Council\u2019s continued investment in the region\u2019s creative industries,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re focused on commissioning innovative, contemporary works that engage directly with the community and encourage collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe program also prioritises accessibility, with identified categories for First Nations creatives and support available for culturally diverse artists and artists with disability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Registrations open on Monday 13 October and close on Monday 27 October. Council is also hosting a free online information session on Wednesday 9 October, from 6 to 7.30pm, to assist prospective applicants through the process and answer any questions.
