Central Coast Council is developing a Youth Strategy for 2026\u20132030 and is inviting young people aged 12\u201324 who live, study or work on the Coast to share their opinions. From 1 to 31 October 2025, an online survey at yourvoiceourcoast.com<\/a> will gather ideas, needs and priorities to help shape the future of youth services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Lawrie McKinna said there are more than 50,000 young people aged 12-24 years living in the Central Coast region, representing just over 14% of our total population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYoung people bring fresh perspectives and bold ideas that are vital to shaping the future of our region,\u201d Mayor McKinna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey are valued members of our community. How we listen to, celebrate and involve them will help influence the future of the Central Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis strategy is about putting young voices at the forefront. We\u2019re asking what\u2019s great about being a young person on the Central Coast and what do they want to see changed or improved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI encourage parents, carers and youth advocates to help spread the word. Let\u2019s give our youth the platform and confidence to step up and lead the way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said Council is committed to working with the community to connect young people, build their confidence and skills and creating inclusive opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur Youth Strategy outlines how we will work with young people, schools, youth organisations and the wider community to make the Coast an even better place to live, connect and thrive for our young people,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFeedback from this consultation will help us understand what matters most to young people and how best to support them – directly shaping a five-year plan that will guide our delivery of youth-led programs, services and opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur first Youth Strategy steered a range of impactful youth programs since 2020 including Creative Engineers Program, the Youth for Youth (Y4Y) Leadership Program, the Central Coast Skatepark Series, the Skilled and Ready Program, School Holiday Youth Day Out Program, Youth Week Program, and Central Coast Youth Week Awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese initiatives not only brought the strategy to life but also reinforced our dedication to empowering and celebrating young people across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young people aged 12-24 who complete the survey will go in the draw to win one of two Beats Solo 4 headphones! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
