Central Coast Council is excited to announce that its leisure, lifestyle and tourism brand, Destination Central Coast, has been named a finalist in the 2025 Banksia Marketing and Communications for Impact Award.

This national recognition celebrates how Destination Central Coast promotes the region with a strong focus on sustainability and community values.

Council Acting Mayor, John Mouland said the announcement is a proud moment for the Central Coast.

“This recognition is something our whole community can celebrate,” Acting Mayor Mouland said.

“Destination Central Coast has allowed us to showcase our region’s natural beauty while promoting responsible tourism that respects both the environment and our local values.

“These efforts are helping to position the Central Coast as a destination of choice for visitors who care about the environment. That’s a win for our local businesses, our economy and our way of life on the Coast.”

Winners will be announced by the Banksia Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, on 9 December 2025 at the Australian National Maritime Museum.

In more good news, Destination Central Coast has also been named a triple finalist in the 2025 NSW Tourism Awards, with nominations in:

  • Local Government Award for Tourism
  • Tourism Marketing & Campaign
  • Visitor Information Services

Winners will be announced at the NSW Tourism Awards Gala on 27 November 2025.

The Central Coast was also recognised internationally last month, making the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories list for the fifth year in a row. This year’s recognition highlights Destination Central Coast’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism, including:

  • Showcasing local eco-certified operators
  • Partnering with local charity Take 3 for the Sea to encourage waste-wise travel
  • Supporting local businesses through tools like the Ground Swell Litter Lab Masterclass

Council and Destination Central Coast would like to thank its industry partners and the wider community whose passion and collaboration make achievements like this possible.
