History beckons as two of the world\u2019s most explosive teams meet as international rugby returns to the Central Coast in September 2027.<\/strong>

\u2022 Launch marks one year to go until international rugby returns to the Central Coast for the first time since 2004 \u2013 when South Africa played the combined Pacific Islands team.
\u2022 More than just a Test Match – South Africa and Fiji will establish training camps and take part in community activities, driving local engagement and economic return for the region.
\u2022 Test Match secured through an investment package from the Central Coast Council.

The Springboks and Flying Fijians will complete their preparations for the Men\u2019s Rugby World Cup Australia 2027 with a final Test Match at polytec Stadium on Saturday, 18 September 2027 \u2013 to be known as the Contest on the Coast.

Supported by the Central Coast Council, the Test Match – which was launched exactly one year before kick-off – marks only the fourth time the two nations have met. It will give fans the first opportunity to see the four-time and defending World Champion Springboks, and fan favourite the Flying Fijians, in Australia ahead of the 2027 tournament.

The match will serve as a vital part of both teams\u2019 preparation for the Men\u2019s Rugby World Cup Australia 2027, with the Springboks aiming for a historic three-peat, while the Flying Fijians will look to build on their 2023 quarter-final appearance as they carry the hopes of the Pacific into a home-region tournament.

As part of their commitment to the region, both teams will take up residence on the Central Coast, leading into and following the Test Match, with the establishment of high-performance training camps which will see them integrated with the local community and utilising its world-class facilities.

With a 6pm AEST kick-off confirmed, the Test Match is expected to drive visitation of proud Springbok and Flying Fijian fans to the Central Coast to mix with locals for the match.

With capacity at polytec Stadium capped at 20,000, tickets are expected to be in high demand for the fixture. Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, 29 September 2026 and fans are encouraged to purchase early to avoid disappointment.
