Icon Cancer Centre Gosford proudly celebrated 25 years since opening their doors to the Gosford community earlier this year, with more than 12 000 patients having been treated with the latest in radiation therapy treatment at the local centre since 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The centre offers advanced radiation therapy treatment for all cancer types and ensures rapid access to care without patients having to travel far from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
79-year-old local Jerry Zarb, who underwent radiation therapy for prostate cancer at Icon Cancer Centre Gosford, says he can\u2019t imagine having received treatment anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe team is fantastic, from the reception to the nurses and doctors. Their number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of their patients. To have gotten in fairly quickly and not had to be put on a wait list or travel to Sydney made things much easier,\u201d Mr Zarb said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local Community Radio presenter, Jerry received 33 sessions of radiation therapy across six weeks and celebrated the end of his treatment by proudly ringing the bell and performing a rap about his radiation therapy experience with his son and daughter by his side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe had a lot of fun together. Every six months since September 2019, my PSA tests have so far come back as undetectable. I\u2019m so happy! I have a lot of life left to live so I\u2019m grateful to have been able to get the treatment I needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
