A clever and witty dance theatre show Awkward <\/em>is coming to The Art House Wyong, created by celebrated Newcastle dance company, Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company, launched in 2014 by former dancer and choreographer Cadi McCarthy, champions mid-career and emerging dancers, artists, and choreographers. They also have a strong program for young people and the community of the Hunter region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awkward<\/em> is an all-ages dance theatre show that follow a group of strangers who arrive at a house party invited by a friend who never shows! What unfolds are moments of hilarity, intimacy, bumbling missed connections, classic kitchen party moments, the mating ritual and really bad lounge room dancing. Set to a soundtrack of memorable 80’s. 90’s and 00’s hits, the show has a nostalgic connection for audiences, told cleverly through dance and narration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only is Awkward<\/em> a unique, instantly relatable, and fun dance story, it\u2019s an opportunity to acknowledge the incredible work of regional companies in our midst. The Art House is committed to celebrating local creatives and supporting their work onstage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For young dancers on the coast, The Art House is also offering an after-school workshop opportunity led by members of Catapult where they will learn repertoire from the show and the choreographic process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
