The next and 3rd exhibition at the Public features the work of our own Master Potter, Pete Steggall from Umina and his mate, Daniel Skeffington from nearby Lake Macquarie, who will also soon conduct workshops on Unlocking Creativity at Centered Ceramics. Both artists are to exhibit a review of their work, current and made for this exhibition and recent works from their recent output. The commonality \u2013 beauty and love of the medium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Sensual World<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Exhibition \u2013 \u2018A Sensual World\u2019, will open 6.30 pm Friday 1st July. The exhibition will continue for 4 weeks and available to view Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays 11am \u2013 5pm each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both artists make a mix of decorative, sculptural, and domestic ware pieces. Said Daniel Skeffington \u2013 \u201cThere\u2019s a place in our lives, importantly during trying times, where beautiful art can make life a little more beautiful. Pete and I seem to respond to the clay medium in such a way where beauty to the eye is the result of our making. Why not?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening event will feature live entertainment from local instrumentalist and vocalist Jane Germaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jane Germain\u2019s musical journey has taken her from her hometown, Sydney, to Western Australia, Tasmania and all the way back to her Chinese heritage (her Manchurian great-grandmother married a Scottish missionary). She\u2019s played all the styles from folk to funk, blues to bluegrass, rock to roots that express her emotions and musicality in a career that\u2019s won five WA Music Awards (and one Tasmanian Song writing Award), WA Arts funded headline tours of regional WA, a residency in Beijing awarded by the Australia\u2013China Council (where she collaborated with Beijing based traditional Mongolian musicians, Hanggai on her album, Chinese Whispers) and an invitation for her to represent Australia at the 2010 World Expo in China. Jane has recorded 6 albums, as well as being in high demand as a session player on other projects. Jane plays guitar and clawhammer banjo – and swaps between instruments for different songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
