Live music, mouth-watering food options, and fireworks blasted over the stunning Brisbane Waters. These are just some of the many event highlights planned for Central Coast Council\u2019s free Australia Day community event on Thursday 26 January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The all-age, inclusive event taking place at Leagues Club Park Gosford from 4pm-9pm is an opportunity for the community to come together following COVID-enforced cancellations of events last year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s plenty of activities for kids with face painting, games, and a mini fire truck. The crowd will be serenaded for four hours by bands including Mirrabooka, Baxters Revenge, The Shades, JellyFish, and headlined by Jamie Lindsay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also marks the return of the Australia Day event to Gosford and will be Council\u2019s first event of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Melanie Smith, Council\u2019s Director Community and Recreation Services is looking forward to the day and has a special warning for Gosford\u2019s furry friends!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis alcohol-free event is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy food, music and fun in a safe environment,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe fireworks will be a fantastic conclusion to the festivities, however due to their sound and bright lights we do encourage all pet-owning nearby residents to make sure their animals are locked inside to reduce additional stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Administrator, Rik Hart said it will be an important event for the community and encouraged attendees to use public transport where possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis Council event will be among the first of the year to bring the Central Coast community together, with large crowds anticipated to attend,\u201d Mr Hart said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor public safety, road closures will be in effect, so I encourage people to plan their trips to and around the Gosford CBD in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re fortunate to have such a beautiful location in Gosford to hold an event of this scale and I hope all attendees have a wonderful and safe afternoon.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions in the Gosford CBD from 6am until 11pm.
\u2022 Georgiana Terrace between Dane Drive and Baker Street will be closed for the duration of the event
\u2022 Baker Street between Georgiana Terrace and Vaughan Avenue will be closed for the duration of the event
\u2022 Vaughan Avenue will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the event.
\u2022 Dane Drive between the roundabout of Brian McGowan Bridge and Donnison Street will be closed for the duration of the event
