Central Coast Council has officially opened the new Community Hall and playground at Norah Head, with a celebration event attended by members of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The $1.7 million project has been completed after Central Coast Council received $935,000 from the NSW Government, with Council funding the remaining contribution of $765,000 from planned capital expenditure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Director for Community and Recreational Services, Melanie Smith said the opening of the new hall and playground is a fantastic outcome, and one to celebrate, with the event being attended by residents and community groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncil undertook community consultation to inform the design and construction of the venue, which has resulted in a fabulous modern facility, transforming what was previously in place,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key features of the new facility include a multi-functional hall, kitchen, storage, accessible family friendly amenities, a children\u2019s playspace and picnic area. The project was completed by North Construction and Building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncil worked with a community working group on the project including representatives from Norah Head Residents Association, Hockey Club and the Playground Association to make sure the facility was fit for purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe new facility replaces the dilapidated Norah Head Hall at 75 Bungary Road and the ageing Hockey building at Lawson Street.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Administrator Rik Hart applauded the community groups and residents for their role in working with Council to help design and plan the new community hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncil is pleased to be opening this exciting venue where all members of the community will have access to a range of opportunities to participate in the richness of community life,” Mr Hart said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe facility is one that Council and the community are proud of, and will be used for physical activity classes, meetings, birthday parties and much more. The facility is now available for the community to book and enjoy.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for the Central Coast David Harris said the new facilities were a great demonstration of what is possible when state and local government work together with communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Community Hall at Norah Head is a key piece of community infrastructure which was demonstrated by the passion to save the old hall,\u201d Mr Harris said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This new facility will be a meeting place for the tight knit community from young children in the Playgroup to the excellent Norah Head Residents Association and Panthers Hockey Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The new Hall and playground are a celebration of community engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
