Central Coast Council, Central Coast Primary Health Network and the national men\u2019s mental health and suicide prevention charity, The Men\u2019s Table, is launching its 180th table in Doyalson in the north of the Coast. This builds on the three already established tables at Kincumber, Ourimbah and Bateau Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doyalson Men\u2019s Table first meeting, called an entr\u00e9e, will take place on Wednesday, 28 February from 6.15pm to 8.45pm at the \u2018Doylo \u2019 on 80 Pacific Hwy, Doyalson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Unit Manager of Community and Culture Glenn Cannard said men are invited to come along to the launch event, share a meal and a conversation and learn more about the program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe purpose of the men\u2019s tables is to get men off the couch, into community, and talking with other men about whatever they need to share \u2013 the highs and the lows. Men DO talk \u2013 and not just about footy,\u201d Mr Cannard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Entr\u00e9e is an opportunity to meet other men, learn how a table works and decide whether you would like to be part of the monthly meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing, one in five Australians aged 16-85 will experience a mental health disorder and the Central Coast, has consistently had the highest number of deaths by suicide in Australia since 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Administrator Rik Hart said The Men’s Table Program is a safe place for local men to come together to share and be heard in a confidential and non-judgemental environment, creating a sense of belonging, camaraderie and connection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBy creating safe places for men to come together, show emotion and share feelings, we can break down stigmas associated to mental health,\u201d Mr Hart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
