Central Coast Council’s Coast Summer Safety campaign has returned for the 2024-25 season, providing residents and visitors with essential tips for navigating the busiest time of year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign covers a range of areas, including beach safety, navigating waterways safely, pool safety, keeping pets safe, road safety awareness and emergency preparedness. All these tips tie back to the central theme of \u2018stay safe, enjoy summer.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure maximum impact, the campaign utilises a multi-channel approach, including a dedicated Coast Summer Safety landing page on Council\u2019s website, as well as a comprehensive social media, digital, print and radio advertising campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central Coast Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said the campaign plays a key role in delivering safety messages tailored to the specific conditions expected this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis year, with a warmer and wetter than average summer anticipated, we’re urging everyone to plan and prepare for emergencies like bushfires, heatwaves and storms,\u201d Ms Smith said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhether you’re visiting the Coast or venturing out, understanding your risks, creating an up-to-date plan, preparing your property and staying informed are crucial steps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith the heat, we are also expecting an increase in visitation to our many beaches and waterways, as well as backyard and public pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe campaign highlights the inherent dangers associated with water and reminds everyone to take responsibility for their safety and that of their loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe influx of visitors during the summer season also prompts the campaign to address road safety and the message is clear \u2013 everyone needs to be extra cautious on and around roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFinally, the campaign reminds us of some key pet safety tips, including never leave pets in hot cars, provide plenty of fresh water and shade, and avoid over-exercising them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said the campaign is important for both residents and visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Summer on the Central Coast is about relaxation, rejuvenation and creating lasting memories,” Mayor McKinna said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Our stunning beaches, enticing waterways and vibrant communities offer endless opportunities for fun and adventure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis campaign, with its essential safety tips, provides an excellent resource to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
