Reflections on Christmas and the New Year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we settle into 2025, the festive season has come and gone. The decorations are packed away, and life is starting to return to normal, but the memories of Christmas and New Year\u2019s still remain. It feels like only yesterday we were celebrating 2024, caught up in the excitement and hope that comes with the holidays. For many families in our region, Christmas was a time to come together, share meals, exchange gifts, and create moments to treasure. It\u2019s a reminder of what Christmas is really about\u2014kindness, generosity, and spending time with those we love. But the season wasn\u2019t easy for everyone. For some, Christmas brought a sense of loss or the stress of making ends meet during tough financial times. Others found it to be a lonely period, even with all the talk of togetherness. That\u2019s why it\u2019s so important to carry the spirit of Christmas\u2014compassion and kindness\u2014into the new year. Even the smallest gestures can make a big difference in someone\u2019s life. Let\u2019s keep looking out for each other as we move forward into 2025. Here\u2019s to a fresh start and a year full of hope, connection, and resilience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting Local in 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the festive season is behind us, it\u2019s a great time to talk about supporting our local businesses. They\u2019re the backbone of our economy and play such an important role in making the Central Coast the community we love. When you shop locally, you\u2019re not just buying great products or services\u2014you\u2019re helping to keep jobs in our region and supporting small business owners who work incredibly hard to bring us unique offerings. Whether it\u2019s a handmade item from a market, fresh produce from a local farm, or a meal at a neighbourhood caf\u00e9, every dollar spent locally has a big impact. So, let\u2019s make shopping local a year\u2013round habit, not just something we think about at Christmas. It\u2019s a great way to keep our community strong and vibrant in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Childcare on the Central Coast<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just before Christmas, the sudden closure of Peninsula Long Day Care caused a lot of stress for 42 local families. With only two days\u2019 notice, parents were left scrambling for childcare and now face waitlists stretching for years at some centres. This has forced some parents\u2014especially single parents\u2014into impossible situations, like cutting back on work or leaving their jobs entirely. It\u2019s not good enough, and families deserve better. I\u2019ll keep pushing for answers and solutions from the Minns Labor Government to make sure this doesn\u2019t happen again. Childcare is essential, and we need proper support to ensure families across the Central Coast aren\u2019t left in the lurch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
