Central Coast Council is pleased to announce the construction of the two new sets of stairs at Blue Lagoon Beach is complete, restoring safe access to one of our most loved beaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project reopens a valued connection between Bateau Bay Road and the beach, making it easier for locals and visitors to once again enjoy access to Blue Lagoon beach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The total project cost was approximately $650,000 and was delivered with $245,000 in funding from the NSW Government\u2019s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund, in partnership with Central Coast Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said the completed Blue Lagoon beach access works are a win for the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBlue Lagoon Beach is a special place for so many people. This project is all about reconnecting our community with one of our most loved beaches and making sure it remains accessible into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project highlights and design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n After extensive site investigations and detailed engineering designs including coastal engineering for the two new sets of stairs, the stairs have been constructed from durable materials including concrete, fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) and stainless steel, and have been built to withstand erosion and severe weather events to ensure this beach access is able to be used for many years to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The neighbouring Blue Lagoon public toilets have also undergone minor maintenance and a refresh, including new paint, and are now open.
