This May, Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is turning 31 and people on the Central Coast are being encouraged to gather friends, family or workmates for a cup of tea and a bite to eat whilst raising money to fund cancer research, new treatments and education that saves lives.
Community Relations for Cancer Council Central Coast, Jaynie Moloney said the funds raised will ensure Cancer Council can continue its life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and local support programs.
“For 31 years, Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has brought together many people living on the Central Coast over a cup of tea in support of those affected by cancer” Ms Moloney said.
“Since it began in 1993, Cancer Council’s generous community of supporters across Australia have raised more than $224 million by hosting morning teas.
“Whichever way you choose to celebrate Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, every dollar raised on the Central Coast will make a huge difference.
“It doesn’t need to be fancy – your Biggest Morning Tea could be at home with friends or family, a simple morning tea in the office with workmates, a virtual get-together, or a gathering in the local community or at school.
“Simply register online at biggestmorningtea.com.au, set a date in May or June and start sending out your invites.
“All of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives and every dollar raised helps support those impacted by cancer.”
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is the largest and most successful event of its kind in the country and attracts more than 25,000 hosts each year.
Anyone unable to host a morning tea can still get involved by donating directly to Cancer Council via biggestmorningtea.com.au.
