Central Coast Mayor, John McNamara said the renewed playspaces across the Central Coast are creating exciting new places for local families to enjoy for years to come.

“These 20 renewed playspaces are all about giving children safe, inclusive and engaging places to play, explore and connect close to home,” Mayor McNamara said.

“Each playspace offers something different, from nature play and ninja courses to musical play equipment, creating new and unique experiences for children across the Coast.

“We’ve listened to our community and delivered spaces that encourage children to get outdoors, be active and connect with others.

“I’d like to thank the Australian and NSW Governments for their support in helping Council bring these fantastic community spaces to life.”

These playspace upgrades are part of Council’s long-term asset renewal program, helping keep local playspaces safe, accessible, engaging and enjoyable for current and future generations.

The recently adopted  Central Coast Playspace Strategy 2026-2031, shaped by feedback from more than 1,000 community members, gives Council a clear roadmap for managing and investing in more than 270 playspaces across the Central Coast over the next five years.

This Strategy ensures future playspace renewals continue to deliver the accessible, inclusive and high-quality spaces local residents want and need.

Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid welcomed the completion of the upgraded playspaces.

“The Australian Government is proud to have contributed $1.75 million through the Thriving Suburbs Program to renew and upgrade 14 playspaces across the Central Coast,” Dr Reid said.

“These upgrades will give local children and families safer, more accessible and welcoming places to play, connect and enjoy the outdoors, while strengthening neighbourhoods right across our region.

“I thank Central Coast Council and everyone involved in planning and delivering these important projects. This is a terrific investment in the wellbeing of our community and in public spaces that Central Coast families can enjoy for years to come.”

Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride said getting outdoors, being active and spending time with family and friends are some of the best parts of growing up on the Central Coast.

“Every child deserves safe, modern and fun places to play close to home,” Ms McBride said.

“That’s why I’m proud to have delivered upgrades to ten playgrounds across the Dobell electorate, giving families more choice this spring and summer.”

Federal Member for Shortland, Pat Conroy said the upgrades would provide improved facilities for local children and families.

“These upgrades to playspaces at Lake Munmorah and San Remo will make sure members of our community have access to modern and accessible facilities where kids can enjoy some play time and families can interact.” Mr Conroy said.
