Stay Strong & Independent! Central Coast’s Falls Prevention Month with Conveniently Active

by LukeAdmin

Conveniently Active, leading dedicated Exercise Physiologists clinic on the Central Coast is proud to announce April as Falls Prevention Month, focusing on empowering individuals to take proactive steps towards preventing falls and maintaining mobility and independence. Because who wouldn’t like to prevent falls!

As we get older, our risk of having a fall unfortunately increases.

According to NSW Fall Prevention and Healthy Ageing Network:

  • 37% of injury-related deaths caused by falls.
  • 30% of over 65s fall each year.
  • 23% reduction in falls with regular exercise.

However, there are many ways in which we can prevent falls from occurring, and this is the basis of Falls Prevention Month.

The month-long initiative includes a range of activities and resources aimed at educating and engaging the community in falls prevention strategies.

How to Participate in Falls Prevention Month at Conveniently Active:

  • Falls Prevention Challenge: Exercise Physiologist Meredith has curated a Falls Prevention Challenge, offering free daily exercises and tasks to improve strength and balance at home. Challenges will be posted on social media and available in clinic.
  • Falls Prevention Talk: A free 60-minute talk on Falls Prevention will be held on April 4th at 2pm, providing valuable insights and strategies to avoid accidental falls.
  • Free Trial for Gentle Exercise and Balance Classes: New participants can enjoy a complimentary trial of our Gentle Exercise and Balance classes throughout April, tailored to enhance mobility and stability. Classes are running at North Gosford, Green Point, Kanwal and The Entrance.
  • Falls Prevention Assessments Discount: Conveniently Active is offering a $30 discount on all one-on-one Falls Prevention Assessments during April. These consultations check strength, balance, agility, reaction time and mobility, identify risk factors for falls, and create personalised plans to mitigate them. Clients can choose between a 30- or 60-minute session.
    • Do you have an EPC Medicare referral? Even better! That means that this assessment can be bulk billed, and Conveniently Active have offered to waive their usual gap fee for the month of April.

We are dedicated to promoting mobility, independence, and safety among our clients, especially as they age,” said Rhiannon Walton, Founder of Conveniently Active. “Falls Prevention Month is an opportunity to raise awareness and empower individuals to take proactive measures towards preventing falls and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle.”

Why is it so important to prevent falls?

  • To prevent injury and fractures
  • To prevent hospitalisation
  • To promote optimum mobility, independence and confidence
  • To remain active and healthy
  • To maintain good mental health and to maintain social connections
