Sustainability is at the heart of proud Australian designer and producer of premium Personal Protective Equipment, Industree Group. Dedicated to minimising its impact on the environment and seeking improved future outcomes, Industree Group has introduced a number of significant sustainability initiatives, with more to come.
According to Industree Group CEO, Jon Fleming; “We believe that sustainability is the key to a brighter future and understand our responsibility in reducing our environmental footprint, which is why we are committed to always getting better.” Industree Group is actively demonstrating its commitment to this by implementing a number of meaningful sustainability initiatives.
Industree Group’s recycling and recovery activities require water, energy, and other resources to function. To responsibly manage and proactively mitigate the environmental impacts of these operations, Industree Group deploys innovative technologies, processes, and initiatives.
Protecting the environment
A number of practical initiatives have been implemented including the installation of 96 solar panels at its warehouse, recycling all paper and cardboard products, reusing corrugated cardboard and cartons, and reducing the use of stretch wrap with pallet bands and straps. Industree Group has also partnered with TerraCycle, an international leader in recycling innovation to offer customers the opportunity to recycle PPE such as masks and protective eyewear. Other initiatives include implementing energy-saving devices to reduce electricity use, minimising the use of water, and carpooling among staff.
“We have alsointroduced an incentive program to encourage our workforce to purchase hybrid or electric vehicles, and we will install a charging station once we have more electric vehicles in our fleet”, explains Fleming.
Another way Industree Group is driving sustainability results is through their dedication to gaining significant accreditations and certificates, making them globally recognised for their efforts.
Some of these highly sought after and prestigious awards and accreditations include Silver Status Ecovadis certification as well as SCS Responsible Forestry Certified / Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifications.
Industree Group has been aCarbon Zero certified company since 2011, meaning that its entire carbon footprint/emissions are offset to counter their impact on the environment.
Protecting their people
Industree Group recognises that a crucial part of their sustainability program involves protecting people. “Our employees, customers and partners are our greatest asset,” explains Fleming.
“At Industree Group, we continue to strive to provide a safe place to work. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and child labour and are fully committed to preventing slavery, human trafficking and child labour in our operation and supply chain.”
A focus on mental well-being and health is integral to developing and maintaining a positive culture. Over the next 12 months, Industree Group plans to roll out a staff wellness program and a new return to work program. Industree Group are also thrilled to be onboard as a major sponsor for the largest step challenge #MOVEAGAINSTCANCER 2023. “Our dedicated team are excited to be stepping up to the challenge of getting in as many steps as we can this September to help raise funds for the Cancer Council,” says Fleming.
Industree Group are genuinely committed to continually supporting the community and are involved in a variety of partnerships including Industree Group Stadium, Manly Sea Eagles and more. They have recently partnered with Molly Picklum, World Champion Surfer as a Sustainability & Brand Ambassador. “Molly’s strong sense of community and passion for the environment makes this a natural fit for Industree Group,” says Fleming.
The Industree Group team acknowledges that there is still a lot more work to do and is committed to always doing better.
