The event promoted well-being amongst the elderly, while fostering a spirit of inclusivity and joy.

Meals on Wheels Central Coast (MOWCC) proudly announces the resounding success of its recent Seniors Festival Open Day, held in the heart of Woy Woy. The event took place on 20th March 2024, attracted close to 100 attendees and brought together seniors, their families, and local service providers for a fun day of celebration, connection and enrichment.

In celebration of The NSW Seniors Festival, the event offered a range of vibrant activities such as healthy living exhibitions from local service providers, free Devonshire tea and the opportunity for local seniors to learn about the organisation’s meal delivery and social support services.

Throughout the morning, guests mingled with MOWCC staff and volunteers to learn about its comprehensive service that goes beyond the delivery of a meal. The organisation, deeply rooted in the local Central Coast community for over 56 years, has experienced exponential growth and popularity with their meal delivery service aimed at seniors. In addition to offering over 170 delicious and nutritious meals, the organisation runs four local Community Restaurants, social support, wellness checks, assisted shopping, and even pre-packaged pet food for furry friends.

Several local service providers were also present at the event, including Community Transport Central Coast and Coast Shelter, whom provided valuable information and resources to empower seniors to lead healthy and active lifestyles.

The highlight of the event was the vibrant community marketplace, featuring local businesses and organisations offering products and services tailored to seniors. Guests were spoilt with choice with a selection of activities; from grocery-filled basket raffles, charming market stalls, free cappuccinos and delightful showbags, giving them the opportunity to discover new resources, have a chat and connect with their community.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Meals on Wheels Central Coast CEO, Neridah Morris, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support of the community and the dedication of volunteers who helped make the Seniors Festival Open Day a resounding success. “We are thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout for this year’s Seniors Festival Open Day,” said Neridah. “It’s truly heartwarming to witness the joy and camaraderie that this event brings to our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to local organisations who contributed to making this day so memorable and we look forward to helping more seniors to live a flourishing, independent life.” The Seniors Festival Open Day served as a testament to the resilience, vitality and spirit of the Central Coast’s senior population. Meals on Wheels Central Coast extends its gratitude to all participants, volunteers and sponsors who contributed to making the event a memorable success.
