“Magnificently entertaining. Such musicians are rare in this country.” – City News
The virtuoso Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco Lara, who boasts of a distinguished career in Europe, Asia and Latin America, launches his album “THE ANDALUSIAN GUITAR” featuring some of the finest musicians from Spain and Australia.
Successes at the Sydney Opera House and Adelaide Guitar Festival in 2021 and his 2022 national tour of his solo album The Andalusian Guitar are placing Lara’s flamenco flair at the top of the Australian music scene.
The maestro himself, his amazing ensemble and guest flamenco dancer (Deya Miranda Giner) will play ONE concert only at Wyong Art House on September 3.
” The music, beyond being exceptionally well played, is always pretty and eminently approachable – a quality compounded by the choice of repertoire. John Shand” – The Sydney Morning Herald.
Lara recently returned from recording his new album “Duende” to be launched at the end of the year and concerts in Spain, will feature in a concert repertoire of flamenco favourites and familiar contrasts.
There’ll be hints of traditional flamenco, themes from “The Andalusian Guitar” album and some of the greatest guitar classics of all times from composers as Paco de Lucía or Joaquín Rodrigo, will be performed with the characteristic and unmistakeable sound (“toque”) of Jerez (Spain). Music of other styles will be included too, like the beautiful Cavatina from the film The Deer Hunter and a Waltzing Matilda – in flamenco style?
THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED! You will be transported to Southern Spain captivated by the sound of his guitar, flamenco dance and his incredible ensemble.
Lara’s career, centred in Spain for more than 30 years, has spanned Europe from France to Russia and toured to Latin America before his family’s move to Australia in 2017. Paco has performed with some of Spain’s most prestigious international artists, including, the Maestro Paco Cepero (one of flamenco’s most legendary guitarists and composers), Mercedes Ruiz (dancer), and Isabel Pantoja. He has also been at the vanguard of Flamenco Fusion with hugely successful groups such as El Barrio and Los Delinquentes.
