The Central Coast has scored another major Rugby League World Cup win, with the Wales Women’s team becoming the third international team to select the Central Coast Regional Sport and Recreation Complex at Tuggerah as their official training base ahead of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.
The announcement builds on the recent confirmation that the Australian Women’s Jillaroos and Cook Islands Men’s team will also base themselves on the Central Coast during the tournament, further cementing the region’s reputation as a premier destination for elite sport.
Central Coast Mayor, Lawrie McKinna said it was exciting to see the growing number of teams choosing the Central Coast as their official training base.
“This is fantastic news for the Central Coast and another strong endorsement of our outstanding sporting facilities,” Mayor McKinna said.
“To have three Rugby League World Cup teams choosing to train on the Central Coast is something the community can be proud of. It highlights the experience we can offer athletes, officials and visitors.”

The 2026 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) will be held across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea from 15 October to 15 November 2026. The tournament will feature standalone men’s, women’s, and wheelchair events. For more information www.rlwc2026.com
