The BreastScreen NSW van is in Woy Woy

The BreastScreen NSW mobile screening van is now at Woy Woy and will be there until 30th June 2023.

BreastScreen NSW provides free breast screening to women to support the early detection of breast cancer.

Meredith Kay, Director of BreastScreen NSW Northern Sydney Central Coast says a regular breast screen is one of the most important things women can do for their health.

“Detecting breast cancer early increases your chance of survival while reducing the likelihood of invasive treatment, such as mastectomy or chemotherapy.

“Around 90 per cent of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history. This is why breast cancer screening is so important for all eligible women.”

Meredith Kay says, the successful partnership of over 5 years, between the CWA in Woy Woy and BreastScreen NSW, further supports women to attend their recommended two-yearly screening.

“Bringing these vital services to Woy Woy means more local women can be screened. Life gets busy and we want women to make their health a priority.”

The BreastScreen NSW van is located at the Grounds of CWA Hall, 30-32 The Boulevarde (opposite the Fisherman’s Wharf), Woy Woy.

An appointment with BreastScreen NSW is free, takes less than 20 minutes and no doctor’s referral is needed.

  • All women are invited by BreastScreen NSW to screen every two years from age 50.
  • Any woman with a family history of breast cancer should discuss their specific needs with their GP.
  • Anyone with breast symptoms should contact their GP or health worker without delay.
