The NSW/ACT Association of Family History Societies has been in operation since 1984 and for many of the years since, member societies have taken a turn at hosting an Annual Conference. Wyong Family History Group was established in 1983 and has had the honour of holding conferences previously, the last one being in 2009, when it was held at Wyong Race Course.
This is the first ‘in person’ conference for three years, Covid restrictions having had a major impact on such events. This year we have chosen to use the excellent facilities at Toukley’s 50 plus Leisure Centre. The theme of the Conference is “The Running Waters of History”, chosen to reflect the importance of our rivers, lakes and ocean to the residents of the Central Coast, both past and present.
Traditionally, the first day of the conference is open to all, free of charge. We have a variety of local and nationally known speakers lined up for this three-day event. The topics cover many aspects of family history. Members of the public are welcome to attend on Friday 8th September. We will also have a trading table area, where services and businesses with a connection to family history will be available to answer questions and for customers to purchase their wares. Light refreshments will also be available for sale, and there will be raffles over the three days, with some significant prizes.
To take full advantage of the wonderful speakers, one has to register to attend the Saturday and Sunday sessions via our Conference website. We are offering an early bird discount of $155 for those who register before July 31. After that time, full registration costs $175.
If you can’t attend in person, we will be recording all the speakers and allowing access via Zoom. This costs $50 per person.
We also have two social events planned, a Meet and Greet at Toukley RSL for $25 per person on Friday night, and a Conference Dinner, with live entertainment on the Saturday night for $65 per person. This is also being held at Toukley RSL.
