Coasties the First to See Sydney Dance Company’s New Show Before the Opera House!
The Central Coast is in for a treat as The Art House, Wyong hosts Sydney Dance Company as the first venue for their new triple bill Engine. As a testament to the incredible relationship The Art House has formed with Sydney Dance Company over the year, the show will travel from the Coast into Sydney Opera House.
Sydney Dance Company are one of many renowned companies that appear annually at The Art House as part of its commitment to bringing the best performances out of cities. The difference this time, is that Coasties will be the first to see it.
Engine contains not just one but three incredible dance works by three equally incredible choreographers, all in one night. And for those sceptical of contemporary dance, this is not fluffy or flappy, but exhilarating to watch with big soundtracks, costumes, lighting and movement.
Love Lock (Melanie Lane) features striking costumes by Akira Isogawa and electronic music by Clark to imagine a fantastical folk dance of the future inspired by love stories.
The Mass Ornament (Fran Diaz) is set to the music of Henryk Górecki and has never been performed in Australia before. The dancers explore the idea of mass movement with intricate connections and synchronised steps.
The Journey Itself is Home (Rafael Bonachela) closes the evening featuring music by Grammy Award-winning composer Bryce Dessner and inspired by 17th-century Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō.
Engine is a must-see for those who enjoy dance and physical theatre and is a great place to start for those new to the genre as audiences will enjoy a variety of visual styles, design and choreography in just show.
Three shows from an acclaimed company, without the price tag! The audience is also invited to stay post-show for complimentary nibbles in the foyer and a chance to meet the dancers. Tickets are on sale now.
