A major new sporting and recreation hub is taking shape in the north of the Central Coast, with construction now underway on the $11.9 million Colongra Sporting Complex.
Jointly funded by the NSW Government and Central Coast Council, the transformational project will deliver modern, accessible and inclusive sporting infrastructure designed to support a growing community and create lasting benefits for generations to come.

Located on a two-hectare site on Scenic Drive, Colongra, the new complex will feature:
- two new turfed sporting fields with modern drainage and irrigation systems and LED sportsground lighting
- three multi-purpose courts for basketball, netball and pickleball
- a modern sporting amenities building with accessible toilets, a multi-purpose room, canteen and storage
- new parking, pathways and access roads.
Central Coast Mayor, John McNamara said the Colongra Sporting Complex will provide quality sporting and recreation facilities for those in our community living in the northern suburbs of the Central Coast.
“We welcome the NSW Government’s $6 million investment through the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund, which has helped make this important project possible for our community,” Mayor McNamara said.
“This partnership between the NSW Government and Council will deliver modern, accessible sporting and recreation facilities. The Colongra Sporting Complex will create more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and recreation close to home.
“Importantly, the complex has been designed with accessibility in mind, and will include accessible amenities, pathways and site access to help ensure it can be enjoyed by everyone in our community.
“I would also like to acknowledge Councillor Doug Eaton, who was Mayor of Wyong Council when this project was first endorsed in 2015, and recognise his role in helping bring us to this milestone today.
“As our community continues to grow, investments like this deliver long-term benefits by supporting healthy lifestyles, community connection and year-round participation in sport and recreation.”
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully said the NSW Government has invested $6 million towards the new sporting facility through the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund.
“The Colongra Sporting Complex will be a welcome multi-sport facility for the northern Central Coast growth corridor,” Mr Scully said.
“New and existing homes will directly benefit from this project, which will also deliver up to two hectares of high-quality public open space for the wider community.”
Member for Swansea, Yasmin Catley said as promised, the shovels are in the ground and the new Colongra Sporting Complex is on its way.
“Sport has always been one of the best ways to bring people together. Kids make friends, families meet and the whole community has a place to belong. That’s exactly why I fought to secure this funding,” Ms Catley said.
“We’re living in a world where so much of our time is spent behind a screen. That makes real places where people can connect with each other more important than ever.
“This isn’t just about building sports fields. It’s about building a stronger community around them and it’s something I’m proud to be delivering.”
The new sporting fields will incorporate modern drainage and irrigation infrastructure to create a high-quality playing surface, increasing reliability and supporting greater year-round use by local clubs and the broader community.
The development will support growing demand for sport and recreation across the northern Central Coast while providing new opportunities for residents to connect, stay active and enjoy quality community infrastructure.
The Colongra Sporting Complex is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Accelerated Infrastructure Fund and Central Coast Council.
