Council is inviting older people living and working across the Central Coast to share their views by completing a survey that will help shape Council’s Positive Ageing Strategy 2027-2032.
Carers, family members and those working in the aged services sector are also invited to participate in the survey.
The new strategy will update the former Central Coast Positive Ageing Strategy 2021-2026.
Central Coast Mayor, John McNamara, said the survey would ensure people had the opportunity to help shape services and strategic priorities for the region.
“We acknowledge that older people want opportunities to stay connected, participate fully in community life and shape decisions that affect them,” Mayor McNamara said.
“We want to hear from people of different life stages, backgrounds and experiences to ensure Council’s Positive Ageing Strategy 2027-2032 reflects the needs and wishes of our community.”
“Whether you’re enjoying retirement, caring for a loved one, supporting older people through your work, or planning for the years ahead, have your say and share your ideas.”
“Let’s work together to create an age-friendly Central Coast where people can continue to live active, connected and fulfilling lives.”
Council Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith, said positive ageing is about living well with a focus on health, wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
“The Positive Ageing Strategy is Council’s five-year plan for older people,” Ms Smith said.
“It guides how Council works with older residents, aged care providers and the community to deliver programs, services, places and initiatives that respond to the evolving needs, aspirations and contributions of our older population.”
Throughout October, people are encouraged to complete a survey that invites feedback on connection with family and friends, accessible spaces, transport options, festivals and events, community programs, technology and more.
The survey can be completed online, or paper survey forms are available from Council’s Wyong Customer Service Centre, libraries and 50+ Leisure and Learning Centres.
