Central Coast residents can safely dispose of unwanted household chemicals for free when the NSW Household Chemical CleanOut program returns to Charmhaven and Kincumber this August.
The free drop-off events provide a safe and environmentally responsible way to clear hazardous chemicals out of homes, sheds and garages, helping protect families, pets and the environment.

This facility remains closed, however, it is open for Chemical CleanOut.
Council Mayor, Lawrie McKinna encourages residents to take advantage of the free service.
“Many households have old or unused chemicals stored in cupboards, garages and sheds that can become a safety risk over time,” Mayor McKinna said.
“Household chemicals should never be poured down the drain, placed in household bins or disposed of in the environment.
“Our two March 2026 Chemical CleanOut events collected more than 165 tonnes of unwanted chemicals, the equivalent weight of 100 cars. This highlights the community’s strong commitment to safe and responsible waste disposal.
“These free events make it easy to safely dispose of unwanted chemicals while helping protect our waterways, wildlife and local environment. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to check around the home and bring any unwanted chemicals along for safe disposal.”
A wide range of household chemicals will be accepted, including:
• Paint and paint-related products
• Pesticides and herbicides
• Household cleaners
• Pool chemicals
• Gas bottles
• Fire extinguishers
• Fluorescent globes and tubes
• Car and household batteries
• Motor fuels and oils and cooking oils
• Poisons
The service is available to residents only and is intended for household quantities of chemicals. A limit of 20 litres or 20 kilograms applies per item, with the exception of paint, which is accepted up to 100 litres in containers of 20 litres or less.
