Host an Impactful Birthday Party: Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea Turns 30

by LukeAdmin

The sound of kettles boiling is set to ring across NSW on Thursday 25th May for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in support of Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is encouraging people across the nation to come together in a way that is personal this May and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Since it began 30 years ago, people around Australia have gathered to raise more than $200 million for people affected by cancer. This year, Cancer Council hopes to recruit over 22,000 hosts and raise over $4million across the state and $13 million nationally.

All donations fund Cancer Council’s live-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy, and support programs, like their 13 11 20 Information and Support service, the first port of call for all Cancer Council services.

Cancer Council Community Fundraising Lead, Sarah Russell said each morning tea is as unique as the stories behind it.

“For the past 30 years, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has offered and continues to offer, a chance for the Central Coast community to come together and connect over a cuppa for a good cause.

“People are often surprised to hear that one Australian is diagnosed with cancer approximately every 4 minutes. That’s what makes this campaign so important, it provides a space to learn about the challenges faced by those affected by cancer and raise vital funds for cancer support and research.” Sarah said.

“Cancer affects people in so many ways and impacts every community in Australia, with over 53,000 people in NSW expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2023. It’s vitally important that those affected can access suitable support services, including counselling, peer support, accommodation, and transport to and from treatment.

“Together, with your support, it’s all of us against cancer.” Sarah concluded.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’s 30th Birthday’s official day is Thursday May 25, however participants can register to host at any time throughout May or June.
