The Art House Partners with Words on the Waves

by LukeAdmin

Partnering with and supporting Central Coast artists is a strong core value of The Art House, represented not only in their Art House Creatives program, but in their latest partnership with the Words on the Waves Writers Festival, a not-for-profit organisation, and the Central Coast’s first and only – writer’s festival.

The Art House is proud to co-present the Opening Address for the 2023 Words on the Waves Writer’s Festival, this event will feature three prominent and celebrated Australian writers as they ponder the festival theme “the mind swims”.

Set in the intimate black box studio, audiences will be able to truly experience the way in which these three incredible Australian talents think, how they conceptualise ideas and allow them to set your imagination on a journey.

Listen as Wirlomin Noongar woman Claire G. Coleman (Lies, Damned Lies) bears witness to the ways in which water forms her identity. Multiple Walkley award-winning journalist Tracey Spicer AM dives into the exciting and terrifying world of artificial intelligence (and its inherent bias, explored in her new book Man-Made). And Diana Reid, whose debut Love & Virtue blitzed the charts and awards lists, freestyles through the art of writing. Following their talks, Coleman, Spicer and Reid will be available for book-signings in the main foyer.

The Art House is excited to foster this relationship between two organisations striving to enrich the cultural landscape of the Central Coast year-round. Words on the Waves have been successful in culminating a literary following in the Ettalong area and are now hoping to bring more talks and readings to audiences across the Central Coast. The Art House has received requests for more panel talks and literary events so this collaboration is a wonderful opportunity with exciting potential for the future.
