60+ Cheap & Free Winter School Holiday Activities on the Central Coast

Central Coast Council is making it easy to keep the kids entertained these school holidays.

Families can drop in for a single activity or plan a full week of fun with more than 60 free and affordable events on offer. The program of activities spans Council’s regional gallery, libraries and leisure centres, with plenty of activities outdoors with the youth and environmental teams!

What’s On at our Leisure Centres – Swim, slide and splash out kids’ energy these school holidays with inflatable fun and the water slide at Woy Woy. Or fine-tune some water and ball skills with swimming lessons or at basketball clinics.

What’s On at our Town Centres – Add some fun to your school holiday calendar at The Entrance with The Entrance Connect. An interactive game for all ages! 

Take part in the activities along the trail – complete the game card, collect a stamp from participating eateries, retailers or attractions, connect the line and enter the draw to win one of five $250 Eftpos gift cards*. *T&Cs apply. 

What’s On across our Libraries – See AI-powered robotics in action, explore 3D printing in the Makerspace, or experiment with Scratch and micro:bit coding. Learn methods and techniques to paint your own tabletop gaming miniatures or bring characters to life in manga and comic workshops alongside a variety of hands-on art and craft activities.

What’s On at Gosford Regional Gallery – 38 fabulous children’s art workshops are available. Everything from crochet to decoupage, collage to watercolours, beads to charcoal and embroidery to terrariums!

What’s On at the Theatre’s (Laycock and Peninsula) – Big laughs, big tricks and unforgettable moments await! Join Kenny and Jenny with ‘The Farmy Farm’ for jaw-dropping acrobatics and kid‑approved “wow” moments. Drift into a calming, immersive world of sound at our relaxed concert, ‘Forever changed’, or jump into the action with ‘Signor Baffo’ and see if you can help save the restaurant? And so much more.

What’s On out and about – Offering a range of nature-based activities for all ages, from exploring fascinating fungi and discovering waterbugs, to learning about migrating whales and searching for the endangered Swift Parrot. You’ll discover our unique biodiversity and local environment while enjoying an outdoor adventure.

What’s On for Youth – More just for youth with Youth Day Out a free day packed with live music, street art, skate inflatables, a clothes giveaway, BBQ and more. Then don’t miss the Winter Frenzy at BATO Yard, where local skaters go head-to-head in an action-packed competition.
