Bateau Bay FC Celebrates Pride and Neurodiversity in Historic Double Round

by LukeAdmin

On the 29th June and the 27th July Bateau Bay Football club hosted their first Pride and Neurodiversity round. This was a momentous couple of days for the club showcasing the culture of inclusion and diversity we strive to achieve. The reason we did both days was in the spirit of inclusion and ensured that both the Plate (second grade) and Cup (first grade) teams were able to don the beautiful guernsey designed especially for the occasions. The guernsey had the pride rainbow on the logo and the blue stripes showing our support for Autism and Neurodiversity.  We celebrated with rainbows, the neurodiversity infinity sign and prizes for the individual players who we consider to be the most inclusive in the team.

The 2 teams played their hearts out showing the never give up attitude of the players on this squad! We are looking for more players for next season so if anyone wants to have a try please come down and try. The women are the best you will ever meet, and it is always a space where everyone is accepted and free to be themselves.  Some of these girls have only started playing this season and the quality of football has improved out of sight!

This season was very much a development season for the squad as we had to go to 2 women’s teams this year. I am proud to say that both teams have made the finals this year and we are excited to come back and continue to develop the women’s squad next season! Yeah the girls!
