Get Ready for Spring Gardening: Freshen Up Your Plants and Prepare for Blooms

by LukeAdmin

Mid-winter has set in. Lucky for us gardeners, we know that spring is just around the corner. The shortest day has passed so spring is not that far away.

Many of us have been spending more time at home, and now is a great opportunity to freshen up existing plants and introduce new ones.

Camellias are at their best now and are great in shaded protected positions in the garden or in a large pot on a verandah. Showing off green glossy leaves all year and spectacular flowers in winter.

New season roses have arrived with more arriving over the coming weeks. We have some new varieties as well as the old favourites such as Blue Moon, Double Delight and Just Joey. We are excited to have a range of David Austin Roses in store as well.

We have a “Let’s Talk Roses” workshop  coming up that covers how to grow and get the best out of your roses. It’s a free information workshop and we have a very special guest speaker on Saturday 26th July at 11am at our Erina Heights Store.

Bookings will only be taken commencing Monday 13th July to allow any changes according to Covid-19 restrictions/policy.

Gardening Tips

  • To guarantee that your blue Hydrangeas maintain a vibrant colour, start applying the bluing fertiliser now.
  • If you have yellow foliaged camellias or citrus they may be nutrient deprived. Feed them with an organic fertiliser.
  • Lawns – watch out for winter grass or clover invading your lawn. Come see us to find out the best control method.
